Just 2 weeks after I purchased through a friend from UK an iPhone 1st gen, Orange, the carrier which will bring the iPhone 3G in my country, announced today that they will release the iPhone 3G on 22 August, aproximately 1 week after I’ll get mine (hopefully, cause that friend will be coming home in 10 days from now and then he’ll give me the phone).
The only things I’m still happy about is that I won’t have to switch to Orange to have an iPhone, because I didn’t want to, also I won’t be paying a huge (most likely) plan and the fact that the 2 generations are not that different. The 3G one only has 3G, which won’t use me over here, GPS (I would have loved that) and a black plastic back. Oh, and 2.0, but I hope I’ll be able to update the phone I’ll get to 2.0 for the App Store.
They are yet to reveal the plans and the price of the phone; I’m very curious if it will be $199 or at least around $199. They also said in that press release that 6 major Orange shops across the country will open at midnight for the fans. Also very curious if there will be the same madness like in other countries 
Overall, I’m not sad. I can barely wait to get the iPhone from my friend. Counting days ’till then.
